FEATURES
Manage Assignments - This is a broad topic and several of Homeschool
Tracker's more advanced features fall into this category. You can enter new
assignments for one or more students, and then:
- Copy them for one or more students for a given date
- Replicate them for one or more students over a given date range
- Reschedule assignments by date, student and subject
- Print out daily or weekly assignment sheets
- Record grades, scores and/or time spent
Courses - The Plus Edition allows you to define courses within your broad subject areas. You will use courses for weighted grading and transcripts.
Courses also work well for those who organize their homeschooling around Unit Studies.
Multiple Planning Options - You can use Homeschool Tracker Plus in the way that best suits your homeschooling style.
There are three ways you can enter assignments into the program: Lesson Plans, Weekly Planner, and directly into the assignment grid.
While some users will use only one entry method, most will find that some combination of the three options gives the greatest flexibility in maintaining records.
Reuse and Share Lesson Plans - You can create Lesson Plans per student, per year, per discipline, per Unit
study...whatever method best suits your needs. You can have some lesson plans
that incorporate an entire year's work for a grade level, while other plans
might contain items just for specific Subject/Course combinations. You are
limited only by your organizational preferences. Lesson Plans can be imported and exported to share with others.
High School Transcripts - The Transcript report will generate an official documentation of your student's work that is
appropriate for submission to a college or other institution. There are two Transcript formats to choose from: Columns and Full Page.
The column format uses the "newspaper columns" format – starting with the left column and continuing in the right hand column as space is needed.
The Full Page option utilizes the full left to right margin space for each line entry.
For samples of the various Transcript report formats, see the Reports section of the Screen Shots page.
Record Field Trips and Books Read - Most states do not specifically require
that you keep track of these items, but in order to provide a complete
picture to the evaluator about what was accomplished during the year, we found
it useful to record details and dates of field trips and books read. In this
manner, both year-end reporting and planning for the following year are
simplified.
Record Attendance - With the familiar calendar-style input format,
keeping attendance records is extremely simple. By using Homeschool Tracker to
record attendance you will have an extremely easy way to account for every day
you hold school. No more "lost" days that you forget to count at the end of the
month or year. And throughout the year, you will have a running total on the
Main Menu panel so you can adjust your schedule as necessary.
Reporting - Reports are the natural by-product of entering all the
information in the tasks listed above. However, because it is a category of
particular importance (especially in light of state mandated requirements) we
will summarize the list of available reports here:
- Agenda (Calendar)
